Effective home remedies for skin pigmentation
Pigmentation is a condition due to which the skin darkens with minute spots, patches or tanning on the surface of the skin. With simple tips and tricks, you can get rid of those pesky spots and patches with these home remedies using ingredients easily found at home. Home remedies for skin pigmentation can help brighten skin tone and prevent it from looking dull and lifeless. Listed below are some popular hyperpigmentation treatments at home that you can try.
Green Tea Extract
Antioxidants like catechins are present in green tea that not only soothes the skin but effectively reduces the appearance of dark spots and also fights against the early signs of ageing. It flushes out toxins from the system and repairs cells on the skin's surface. Add green tea leaves into boiling hot water and let it soak for as long as the tea leaves' contents permeate into the liquid. Let it cool and then use a cotton ball or spray it on the face as and when required.
Aloe Vera Gel
Aloe vera gel is one of the best ingredients to use for lightening scars and is therefore no surprise that it is equally good on dark spots and pigmentation too. Aloe vera gel contains aloin which is a depigmentation agent that reduces dark spots. Simply use pure aloe vera gel from a bottle or obtained fresh from the plant on the affected areas overnight and wash your face as regular the next morning. Repeat this process until the spots/patches reduce or fade in colour. This process can be used during the day as well.
Apple cider vinegar contains acetic acid which is a natural bleaching agent found in it making this one of the fastest acting natural remedy for pigmentation. Half a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar along with a tablespoon of honey can be mixed and applied on dark spots or patches or even soaked in a face mask and let it sit for 15 minutes and then wash it off with cool water. You can also dilute a few drops of apple cider vinegar in a tablespoon of water and apply it for not more than 3 minutes until washed off.
Citrus Fruits
Vitamin C rich foods such as lemons, oranges, limes, grapefruits and other citrus fruits are natural bleaching agents that help reduce dark spots and pigmentation. One of the simplest and most effective face masks is a lemon juice-honey one which when mixed together forms an emulsifying paste which can be used on the entire face, left for 15 minutes and then washed off. Never use lemon juice in its actual form as it is highly acidic and can cause dry patches on the skin.
Turmeric
Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties and a natural bleach
Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties which help in soothing the skin especially caused by overexposure to the sun or acne scars. A simple face pack of chickpea, turmeric powder and rosewater makes a mild yet effective face pack to soothe your skin and easily reduce the appearance of dark spots. To accelerate the process, add a few drops of lemon juice and watch your skin glow from top to bottom.
