Excellent Home Remedies to Exfoliate the Skin!!!
Exfoliation is the first process when it comes to skin care regime.  Exfoliation is the process in which the dead skin cells are removed from the outer surface of the skin in order to reveal the new healthy skin.  It can be done through home remedies naturally rather than depending on the expensive chemicals.
Generally, our skin sheds old cells to make a way for the newer cells every 30-day cycle.  When the skin was left unattended, the dead skin cells piles up and creates skin problems like acne, white heads, black heads, body acne and inevitably clogged pores.  These stacked dead cells make your skin look dull and lifeless.  This in turn will give your skin an unhealthy appearance.

Let us have a look on the benefits of exfoliation.

After exfoliation, the new skin has the capacity to absorb the moisturizers completely.  It fights aging process.  It will reduce fine lines and wrinkles.  Exfoliation helps to maintain texture, color and even skin tone.  Exfoliation puts vitality and vigour back to your skin and makes it appear healthy and lively.

In this blog post, I have come up with a few surprisingly natural home remedies to exfoliate the skin in a healthy and natural way.

Steps To Be Followed Before Exfoliation

Before any type of exfoliation to the facial skin, make sure that your skin is not dry.  Soak a washcloth in warm water and squeeze the excess water.   Now, dab it on the face for a few minutes.  This will open up the pores and makes way for exfoliation.

Sugar Exfoliator

Sugar exfoliator is a natural humectant.  It naturally maintains the skin health and appearance.  Mix brown sugar with olive oil to make a smooth paste.  Apply this paste on the face and neck.  Massage in a gentle circular motion for 5 minutes focusing on the nose, forehead and chin.  These are the white and black heads prone areas.  Leave it for 10 minutes.  Once this is done, wash your face with lukewarm water and pat dry.  It will gently exfoliate the skin.  You can also use this exfoliator for body too.  It is always better to use natural sugars because they have rounder granules and won’t cause any damage to the skin while scrubbing, whereas hard exfoliators may have jagged and sharp pieces.  So while doing exfoliation make sure that your fingers run in a gentle circular motion without exerting pressure on the face while exfoliation.  Forceful scrub may damage your skin.  Hence, be kind to the skin while scrubbing.

Salt Exfoliator

Salt scrub is mainly for the body, and not for face.  You can use dead sea salts for exfoliation rather than using a table salt.  You got to mix this dead sea salts with carrier or base oils like coconut oil, almond oil or olive oil.  Mix the salt with anyone of the carrier oil and blend it smoothly.  Salts contain magnesium, calcium and iron.   This will open up the pores and in turn reduce inflammation.

Batter or Rice Exfoliator

This is an excellent and cheap home remedy to exfoliate the skin.  Batter used for idly or simple rice flour is enough to carry out this exfoliation process.  Clean your face with warm water.  Make a smooth paste of rice flour and curd.  Apply this smooth paste on your face targeting the nose and chin.  Give a massage in a circular motion in a gentle way.  This will get rid of any white head or black heads.  Wait for 10 minutes.  Wash it off with cold water.  This exfoliator is time trusted.  You can also apply this exfoliator on the body.  In order to prevent skin dryness, curd is being added as a moisturizer.

Coconut Oil Exfoliator

Coconut oil maintains skin’s natural balance and hydrates the skin.  It is an amazing oil when comes to facial care.  This oil clears away the dead cells and maintains even tone of the skin.  Add coconut oil with sugar to make a smooth paste and blend it.  You can apply this on the face as well as body.   Rub your skin gently for 10 minutes with this exfoliator.  Allow it to work for 30 minutes.  This will add glow to your skin and moisturize naturally.  Wash your face and body with warm water.  This is an very old home remedy to exfoliate the skin.

Don’ts While Exfoliating

Do not exfoliate your skin more often.  2-3 times a week is more than enough.  Daily exfoliations will make your skin dry and strip off the natural oils from the face.

Never ever exfoliate on broken or cut skin.

Before exfoliation, always dampen your face with warm water only.  Do not use hot water.  Hot water will irritate your skin.

Do not scrub the skin harshly.  Gentle scrubbing is enough.

Nighttime is preferable for exfoliation.  As your beauty sleep may do wonders along with the exfoliation.
