Skin fungal infection, especially
ringworm infection is a most common type of skin infection that can occur in
any part of the body, especially in the sweat-prone area and folds. People with weak immunity are prone to get
recurrent fungal infections. Those who
are infected with skin fungal infections take a long time to recover and
moreover it is highly contagious and spread easily. Ringworm infection is highly contagious and causes
a lot of itchiness and dryness of the skin.
These skin infections are very common and can easily be reduced the intensity with
some of the age-old natural remedies.
Before trying any home remedies, it is always safe to do a patch test on
the skin so that it does not cause any allergic or adverse reaction in the
individuals with sensitive skin.
CLEANING
Clean the area of infection regularly
with soap and water in order to avoid any chance of spreading to other areas of
the body.
TURMERIC
Turmeric has natural antibacterial
and antifungal properties. Make a paste
of turmeric with coconut oil and apply a thin film on the infected area. You can also include turmeric in your diet.
APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
Dilute apple cider vinegar with
water. Apply this dilution on the area of
infection using cotton ball and allow it to dry. Wash it off with water. Repeat this 2-3 times a day.
NEEM LEAVES
Neem is a natural detoxifier. It has natural antihistamine and antifungal
properties. Put neem leaves in water and
boil. Do not boil it for too long. Use this water to clean the area of
infection. Neem is an active ingredient
in most of the herbal skin remedies.
Neem oil can also be applied on the infection site.
COCONUT OIL
Coconut oil is an age-old remedy
for all type of skin infections. Lauric
acid present in coconut oil has the power to heal the wound faster. It has strong antifungal benefits. Applying coconut oil directly from the jar to
the infected site can eradicate the infection rapidly. Regular application of coconut oil shows
visible results.
ALOE VERA
Aloe vera is a time-tested natural
remedy for all skin infections. Apply fresh
gel from aloe vera to the affected area 2-3 times a day. This will keep dryness of the skin at bay and
calms down itchiness.
OLIVE OIL
Olive oil also has powerful antifungal
properties. Soak a cotton ball in olive
oil and dab it on the skin. Leave it for
two hours and wash it off with cold water.
You can apply olive oil twice a day for better results.
GARLIC
Crush the garlic pods and make a
paste with olive oil or coconut oil.
Apply a thin film of this paste on the affected areas. Garlic has been used for centuries to treat
skin infection.
ESSENTIAL OILS
Apply essential oils mixed with
carrier oil on the infection site with cotton.
Always dilute essential oils with carrier oil like coconut or olive oil
for best results. Tea tree, eucalyptus,
lavender, lemon oil, and peppermint oil can be used to treat fungal infections.
THINGS TO REMEMBER TO PREVENT SPREADING OF INFECTIONS
Avoid touching the infection site.
Avoid walking barefoot.
Wear cotton clothes and avoid
synthetic ones.
Keep skin clean and dry from sweat.
Use separate towel during infection
to wipe out and avoid using the same towel on any other parts of the body.
Don’t scratch the infection site even
if it is itchy.
Avoid tight clothing during hot
summer
Avoid sharing clothes, towels,
kerchiefs, bedsheets, pillows, under wears, socks and shoes
Take shower twice a day during hot
climate
